Additional Procedures due to COVID-19

As always, the safety of JLSC members, guests and staff is our priority. In response to COVID-19, the NJ Department of Health has issued community pool regulations based on CDC guidelines that we must adhere to. Below you will find related rules that are new for the 2020 season. The CDC guidelines can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/parks-
rec/aquatic-venues.html

General Information

Daily Pool Hours: 12pm – 8pm

Extended hours may be announced prior to holidays or other special events. To ensure adequate time for cleaning/sanitizing at the end of each day, all members/guests will be required to leave the pool area by 8:15pm.

COVID-19 symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Any member or guest who is experiencing any of the COVID-19 related symptoms listed below, or who has come into contact with anyone who has the virus or is experiencing symptoms SHOULD NOT enter JLSC or its grounds until they are symptom free for 14 days. Please note that this list does not include all possible symptoms, as the CDC continues to provide updates, the list below may change to include additional symptoms.

  • Fever or chills

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headache

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Congestion or runny nose

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Diarrhea

Each member will be required to sign a certification/waiver attesting to the fact that they will not enter the pool or grounds at any time while they are experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms. This certification is in effect throughout the entire 2020 season, so it does not have to be signed with each visit to the pool. If a member brings a guest with them, each guest must sign a certification prior to entering the pool. If the guest is a minor, the member they are with may sign on their behalf.

Each lifeguard/staff member will have their temperature taken prior to the start of their shift. If they have a temperature that registers above 99.9°F, they will not be permitted to work during their scheduled shift. While members are not required to have their temperature taken prior to entering the pool, it can be taken upon request.

All members and their guests must enter the pool through the main gates closest to the parking lot. Each member/guest must sign themselves in on the daily logbook. It is essential that all visitors to the pool are accounted for in the event that contact tracing is required. Before entering the pool deck, all members and guests are required to sign into the daily logbook. All members are also required to present their JLSC membership badge upon entering and wear it while on the premises. Guests will also be required to sign in and wear a daily guest wristband while on the premises. Entrance and exiting of JLSC should also be staggered with no congregation at the entrance/exit(s).

Member Capacity

Based on reduced capacity requirements, members may be limited to 4 hours at the pool at one time. The daily sign-in log will record the member time in/out. If the pool is at capacity, members must exit after 4 hours. The lifeguards/staff will remind the member(s) that their time is up. If the pool is not at capacity, members may be able to stay longer. Depending on capacity, if a member(s) had to leave after 4 hours, they may also be able to return to the pool later in the day (after a time lapse of at least 4 hours). Members should call the pool to determine capacity prior to returning.

As we understand capacity needs to ensure the safety of our members and staff, no guests will be permitted until after July 4th. If capacity presents a problem, this may be extended on an as-needed basis.

Daily Guest Fees: $10/person (age 14 and up) | $5/child | $5/person after 5pm
Guest fees should be paid via Venmo (@Juniper-Lane) whenever possible.

Pool Set-up

Social distancing will be maintained on the pool deck and club grounds. The pool deck will be divided into two sections for seating:

  • BYOC [Bring your own chair] – Members will utilize this section when bringing their own chair(s) and arrange them next to the chairs of the other members of their immediate family/group. Social distance (6ft. or more) must be maintained between chair groupings. Members should sanitize their own chairs before and after each visit to the pool.

  • Lounge area – a limited number of JLSC lounge chairs will be available in this section for use on a first come, first served basis. Chairs will be sanitized each evening as part of the pool closing procedure but each member using a chair in this section is expected to sanitize before and after use. Sanitizer spray will be available throughout the pool area for this purpose

Lounge chairs may be arranged to accommodate the number of people in your immediate party but are required to be 6ft. apart from adjacent members/groups. Due to reduced space for chairs based on social distancing regulations, it may be necessary for some members to place their chairs in the grass outside of the pool deck area.

Umbrellas will be made available and will be disinfected daily.

Disinfecting stations are available throughout the pool area. These stations contain hand sanitizer, spray bottles and paper towels. Members must return spray bottles and paper towels to the disinfecting stations after each use. Disinfectants can be used on common areas prior to use (e.g. chairs, tables, umbrellas, etc.)

Sharing of furniture and equipment (e.g. umbrellas, picnic tables, etc.) is prohibited, except among
immediate family members, caretakers, household members or romantic partners. All members should disinfect equipment before and after each use.

Members and guests will be allowed to use their own water play equipment, including but not limited to goggles, snorkels, fins, kickboards and toys, however JLSC shall prohibit the sharing of such equipment except among immediate family members, caretakers, household members or romantic partners and not provide such equipment for rent/other use to patrons while at the pool.

NOTE: There will be no lost and found. Any/all items left at the pool will be discarded each evening so please be sure to take home all towels, goggles, toys, etc.

Entrance and exiting of the pool itself should be staggered/socially distanced. There should be no congregation around the pool ladders and steps.

A deep clean of the bathrooms will be performed daily. Face masks and foot coverings (no bare feet) must be worn by anyone entering/using the bathroom. Bathroom use will be limited to one person at a time except for a parent/caregiver/family member assisting a young child. All members are expected to wash their hands during each visit to the bathroom.

Face Masks

Cloth face masks should NOT be put on children under 2 years of age due to the danger of suffocation.

Face masks are NOT allowed to be worn in the pool due to increased risk of drowning.

Face masks are required whenever 6ft. of separation cannot be maintained (e.g. when purchasing snacks – no mask; no snacks).
